Interview with Dr. Ezra Moore: A Dedicated Psychiatrist Making a Difference
At Still Rock Psychiatry, we pride ourselves on the dedication and expertise of our team. One of our distinguished psychiatrists, Dr. Ezra Moore, has made significant contributions to the mental health field. We had the pleasure of sitting down with Dr. Moore to learn more about his journey, his approach to psychiatry, and his inspirations.
Q: Dr. Moore, can you tell us a bit about your background and how you became interested in psychiatry?
Dr. Moore: I grew up in a small town and my parents were in the medical field. From a young age, I was fascinated by the human mind and how our experiences shape who we are. This curiosity led me to pursue a degree in psychology, and eventually, I specialized in psychiatry. I wanted to understand the complexities of mental health and help those struggling with it find peace and stability.
Q: What brought you to Still Rock Psychiatry?
Dr. Moore: After completing my residency, I was looking for a place where I could make a real impact. I worked in California for awhile, but was itching for a change. Still Rock Psychiatry’s holistic approach to mental health care and its commitment to patient-centered treatment resonated with me. Joining the team here felt like a natural fit, and I've been able to grow both professionally and personally.
Q: What is your philosophy when it comes to treating patients?
Dr. Moore: I believe in treating each patient as an individual, with their own unique experiences and challenges. My approach is to combine evidence-based treatments with a compassionate, empathetic attitude. Building a trusting relationship with my patients is crucial. I want them to feel heard and understood, and to know that they are not alone in their journey.
Q: You've mentioned before that community plays a big role in your life. How does that influence your work?
Dr. Moore: Absolutely, community is very important to me. Growing up, I saw firsthand how a lack of supportive community can negatively impact someone's life. At Still Rock, we try to foster a similar environment. We encourage our patients to engage with their communities, build support networks, and find strength in those connections.
Q: Who has been a significant influence or hero in your life?
Dr. Moore: One person who stands out is Admiral Chester Nimitz. He was a commander in the U.S. Navy during World War II and he's from my hometown. His leadership, resilience, and dedication to his country are incredibly inspiring to me. Admiral Nimitz faced enormous challenges but remained steadfast and committed to his mission. His legacy is a reminder of the strength and determination we can all aspire to.
Q: What are some of the challenges you face as a psychiatrist, and how do you overcome them?
Dr. Moore: One of the biggest challenges is dealing with the stigma surrounding mental health. Many patients come in feeling ashamed or embarrassed about their struggles. It’s my job to help them understand that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Overcoming this stigma requires patience, education, and a lot of empathy. By creating a safe and non-judgmental environment, we can help patients feel more comfortable and open to treatment.
Q: What do you find most rewarding about your work?
Dr. Moore: The most rewarding part of my job is seeing patients make progress. Whether it's small steps or significant breakthroughs, watching someone reclaim their life and find hope again is incredibly fulfilling. Knowing that I’ve played a role in their journey to better mental health is why I do what I do.
Q: Do you have any advice for those considering a career in psychiatry?
Dr. Moore: My advice would be to approach this field with an open heart and a genuine desire to help others. Psychiatry can be demanding, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. Stay curious, continue learning, and never underestimate the power of listening. Building trust and showing compassion are key to making a real difference in your patients’ lives.

Interview with Dr. Summer Lachance: Combining Psychiatry and Compassion
At Still Rock Psychiatry, our team is comprised of dedicated professionals who not only excel in their fields but also make a difference in their communities. One such remarkable individual is Dr. Summer Lachance, a psychiatrist whose compassion extends beyond her patients to the animals she rescues in her spare time. We recently had the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Lachance to learn more about her journey, her approach to psychiatry, and her passion for animal rescue.
Q: Dr. Lachance, can you tell us a little about your background and what inspired you to pursue a career in psychiatry?
Dr. Lachance: I grew up in Seattle, where mental health was often a topic of conversation in our household. My mother was a nurse and my father was a social worker, so I was exposed to the importance of mental health care from a young age. My interest in psychiatry specifically developed during my undergraduate studies in psychology, where I was fascinated by the complexities of the human mind and the impact of mental health on overall well-being. I knew then that I wanted to pursue psychiatry to help people navigate their mental health challenges.
Q: What brought you to Still Rock Psychiatry?
Dr. Lachance: After completing my residency, I was looking for a practice that emphasized a holistic and patient-centered approach to mental health. Still Rock Psychiatry stood out to me because of its commitment to treating the whole person, not just their symptoms. The supportive environment and collaborative team here have been incredibly fulfilling and have allowed me to grow both personally and professionally.
Q: Can you describe your approach to patient care?
Dr. Lachance: My approach is rooted in empathy and understanding. I believe in creating a safe and non-judgmental space where patients feel comfortable sharing their experiences. I integrate various therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness techniques, to tailor treatment plans to each individual's needs. Building a strong therapeutic relationship is crucial, as it helps patients feel heard and supported.
Q: We’ve heard that you volunteer for an animal rescue organization in your spare time. Can you tell us more about that?
Dr. Lachance: Yes, I volunteer for Cat's Cradle, an animal rescue organization that focuses on rescuing and rehabilitating cats. I've always loved animals. I used to adopt rescue dogs, but after my last dog, Paisley, passed away, I couldn't bring myself to adopt another dog. I started volunteering at Cat's Cradle because I really missed caring for rescue animals, and it's been wonderful. I've even started thinking about adopting a cat.
Q: How do you balance your demanding career with your volunteer work?
Dr. Lachance: Balancing my career and volunteer work can be challenging, but it’s all about time management and prioritizing what's important. Volunteering is a way for me to recharge and gain perspective. The fulfillment I get from helping animals in need enriches my life and, in turn, makes me a better psychiatrist. It’s about finding harmony between my professional responsibilities and my personal passions.
Q: What are some of the challenges you face in your practice, and how do you address them?
Dr. Lachance: One of the main challenges is addressing the stigma surrounding mental health. Many patients are hesitant to seek help due to fear of judgment. I work hard to create an environment where patients feel safe and understood. Education is also key; I spend a lot of time helping patients and their families understand mental health conditions and the importance of treatment. Another challenge is staying updated with the latest research and treatment methods, but it's a challenge I embrace because it helps me provide the best care possible.
Q: What do you find most rewarding about your work?
Dr. Lachance: The most rewarding part of my job is seeing my patients make progress and achieve their goals. Whether it’s small steps towards managing anxiety or significant breakthroughs in therapy, each success is a testament to their strength and resilience. Knowing that I’ve played a part in their journey to better mental health is incredibly fulfilling.
Q: Do you have any advice for those considering a career in psychiatry?
Dr. Lachance: My advice would be to approach this field with an open heart and a genuine desire to help others. Psychiatry is both challenging and rewarding, requiring a balance of scientific knowledge and emotional intelligence. Always stay curious and compassionate, and never underestimate the power of listening. It's also important to take care of your own mental health so you can be fully present for your patients.
Dr. Summer Lachance’s dedication to her patients and her passion for animal rescue make her a standout member of the Still Rock Psychiatry team. Her story is a reminder that compassion and empathy are at the heart of effective mental health care. Stay tuned for more insights and stories from our exceptional team at Still Rock Psychiatry.
